Jewel of this Hague impressionist who gained great fame with his maritime works. Van Dekker is known to have painted many canvases 'en plein air'.
This work shows a tugboat along the coast where a small part of the old Northern harbour port head is visible on the far right.
In impeccable condition, this masterpiece comes in a precious gallery frame of Gehring and Heijdenrijk.

The painter Henk Dekker was born in The Hague in 1897 and stayed there most of his life.
He was famous for painting seascapes and beach views with fishermen and ships in impressionistic style. He got his inspiration along the Dutch coast, but he also travelled along the Mediterranean Sea and along the coasts of Brittany, Belgium, England and Sweden. Henk Dekker was advised by H.J. van der Weele and was otherwise self-taught.Henk Dekker was advised by H.J. van der Weele and was otherwise self-taught. He lived and worked in the Hague, but also made many foreign trips to, apart from England and Sweden, France and Morocco. In the 1930s he changed his use of colour and his work showed his famous bluish grey tone. Dekker was a member of the Dutch art circle.
