Maurits Cornelis Escher 1898 - 1972.
This is a lithography of the Horseman (reprint no grid) unknown where this lithograph was made, it has an excessive dimension after the original. In the photo, you can see a moisture spot that is visible outside the image, to be dissolved with a mat.
His engravings often depict impossible constructions, studies of infinity and interlocking geometric patterns (divisions) which gradually change in completely different shapes. Some very well-known scenes by him were designed for impossible objects such as the Penrose triangle and Penrose stairs. Only in the 1950s he was recognised as an artist, especially in the US. Crystallographer and mathematicians discovered symmetries and themes from their fields in his work. From 1960 on, Escher's graphic work was used in scientific (study) books.
