Silver Medal of a Knight of the Royal Order of the Saviour (Greece), second model (1863-1924)

This is a medal of a Knight of the Royal order of the Saviour of the second model (1863-1924) with the portrait of Christ the Saviour in a medallion. The cross and the crown are made of silver. For this model (the second) the ribbon is light blue edged with white, which are the colours of the Greek flag.
This medal comes from the Pomonis jewellers in Athens, purveyors by appointment to the Greek royal family.
The order of the Redeemer or Saviour is a Greek honorary order founded in 1833. It is awarded to those who have done remarkable things for Greece or who have distinguished themselves outside the country.
The first person to have been honoured with this order was King Louis I of Bavaria, father of Othon I, in 1833.
