From GRAND MERE AVAIT LE MEME - grandma had the same, Here is by Richard Rummel (1848-1924) The arrival of the ocean liner ‘France’ in the port of New York during its maiden voyage, oil on canvas, signed on the bottom left ‘Rich'd W. Rummel.’ This liner ‘France’ launched in 1912 is the second of the name, it was nicknamed "the Versailles of the seas". Origin: U.S.A. Period: circa 1912. Condition: Set in good condition, note a very small tear (see photo 5). Dimensions: Frame: 45, 5 x 35 cm.; Painting: 38 x 27.5 cm Richard W. Rummel (1848-1924) is an American painter known for his views, from the sky, of American architecture, landscapes, and universities, before aerial views allowed it. He mentally transposed himself over the roofs to create his works as seen by a bird, they were reproduced in very large lithographic posters, many of which are monuments of historical heritage in the United States and Canada. One of his most famous views is that of 'The Grand Trunk Railway - Chateau Laurier' in Ottawa, Canada. The penultimate photo is a large poster of the same liner he had made for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique - French Line in 1912. This liner ‘France’ launched in 1912 is the second of the name, it was nicknamed "the Versailles of the seas".
