Glazed ceramic vase with ovoid section, with long cylindrical foot
The body of the vase is decorated with volcanic enamel, with some textured and corrugated parts.
The enamel has a slight metallic lustre.
Max Modolo makes these ceramic pieces in his Italian atelier.
His artistic experimentation in the ceramic field are related both to shapes and textures.
He is very interested in the effects of ceramics and glazes obtained by some Italian artists. such as Guido Gambone and Marcello Fantoni, and he has always been attracted by the shapes created by Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.
Recently he became interested in German ceramics of the 1960s and 1970s, known as Fat Lava ceramics.
