Hasapi, also called kacapi, hapitan, or kulcapi, is a two-string, boat-shaped lute with a short neck of the Toba-Bataks from North Sumatra The sound box/body is richly decorated on the sides and the top with carvings of Tokehs or lizard-species and a bird on top of the Neck. The back of the sound box/body is flat with an elongated hole. The sound box runs out at the bottom in a forward-projecting knob decorated with carvings that are reminiscent of the bow of a ship. When playing the Hasapi it is kept in front of the belly using the hole at the back to create certain sound effect by alternately closing it and opening it t.
The rather large Hasapi is in good condition and can be played.
