“Akt am Strand”
Archive photo by the artist from his estate with stamp on back, photo no. 21/141/8 Wikipedia: (*26 December 1909 in Leipzig - † 12 June 1978 in Oed am Rain) was a German writer, photographer, researcher and pioneer of canoeing.
Herbert Rittlinger wrote travel essays, novels and non-fiction. With his experience reports from remote areas, he achieved six-figure circulation figures and was a much-read writer in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
His works were particularly attentive and sustained in the circle of canoeists, as he travelled on many of his trips by folding boat. Rittlinger himself, however, insisted that he should not be reduced to his role as a canoeist or travel writer. The artist became not only known for his writing activities. His photographic work enjoys just as much popularity. He dealt with nude photography in the sense of naturism. To this end, he published several photo textbooks and illustrated books. For many years, he was also the author of a monthly column on the topic of "nude photography" in Fotomagazin. From 1963 until his death he was a member of the DGPh (German Society for Photography). Above all, he dealt with the topic of water sports in his photographs as well as his writing.
The shot was taken in the early 1960s in Upper Bavaria.
