The result was the revolutionary Katana series. At the beginning of the 80's the design was a sensation, and even after almost 4 decades, it still impresses with its timelessly beautiful lines. The 650 was the only machine in the Katana series with shaft drive. And at around 200 km/h, it was just as fast as the fastest BMW 2-valve BMW at the time. In contrast to the BMW motorcycles of the 80's, however, the shaft drive of the Suzuki shows no load change reactions.
