Authentic sculpture by master Walter Veronesi known as the "railway-sculptor", titled Carmelitani Scalzi.
Master Walter Veronesi is universally known for the monument to the memory of the massacre of the train "Italicus".
The Italicus massacre was a bomb-type terrorist attack carried out on the night between the 3rd and 4th of August 1974 on the Italicus train, while it was passing through San Benedetto Val di Sambro, in the province of Bologna.
It is considered one of the most serious attacks during the years of lead, together with the massacre of Piazza Fontana on 12 December 1969, the massacre in Piazza della Loggia on 28 May 1974 and the massacre in Bologna on 2 August 1980.
The memorial to the "Italicus", made from a piece of the No. 5 car torn apart by the bomb, is on display in the station of San Benedetto Val di Sambro.
The work presented here, Carmelitani Scalzi is further example of Veronesi's ability to work with iron.
The author's ability to shape iron is expressed by giving the metal the movement and the elegance characteristic of a gymnast intent on his exercise.
