In 1950 and 1951, Studebaker released this daring vehicle designed by Mr Loewy. It was a bit controversial, but sales were good and it would never get better than this for the brand.

The rear window is wrapped around the car with four windows in the coupe version.
Spinners and other aircraft details can be found everywhere, including in the interior.

There was a big announcement when Studebaker came up with a very modern V8 in 1951. It was compact, energy-efficient and a few years ahead of the competition Chevrolet / Ford / Plymouth.

Up for auction is an original un-welded and unspoiled Commander V8 with 120 HP and a 2-stage automatic gearbox, all original.

The body is hard and neat without any rust holes, not even on the known spots, this car is really exceptional.

The engine starts straight away and idles nicely, the gears shift smoothly. The CO has been adjusted and the ignition is on point, but it does need some work before going on the road. In particular the brakes need to be checked, but also the wiring needs some repairs. The lights work but not the indicator and the insulation is loose on several places. The tyres have recently been replaced as well as the rims. The interior still contains all the original details, note the knobs on the original radio with the spinner motif.

The headliner is missing. The seats were neatly reupholstered and the front bench is very comfortable, the back also sits great. The front windows have wear (see photos).

The chrome is in very good condition, some wear in places. It has a vinyl “white pearl” wrap. The wrap gives the car just that little extra, however it can also be easily removed. This car is also ideal as a wedding car. The back seat entry is very spacious because the front seats fold away diagonally. We will also include spare chrome parts, see past photo.
