Isaac Naarden was born on 16 April 1902 in Amsterdam. He attended the state academy of fine arts in Amsterdam, under the direction of A.J. Derkinderen and J.H. Jurres. He lived and worked in Amsterdam, Osnabruck, Paris and Epe (Vaassen) until 1926, Amsterdam until 1928, Bussum until 1957, then in Laren (N.H.).

He painted, watercoloured, drawn, etched and lithographed, from impressionistic to expressionistic, portraits, landscapes, nudes and still lifes. Famous were his exhibitions at the Hotel Hamdorff and the Singermuseum in Laren. An exhibition was held on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Naarden was a member of St. Lucas in Amsterdam and of the ‘Gooise Vereniging’ for fine arts. In 1982, Naarden was appointed ‘Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau’.
He himself had an institute for fine art in Bussum. He taught those including N.H. Keller, J.F. Uriot, J.C. Verhoeven, C.L. Vonk.

The painting shows an impression of bathing women, painted in beautiful pastel shades.
