Niek van der Plas, the "Onze Lieve Vrouwenplein Maastricht" signed on the bottom right and on the back of the panel is the title and signature by Niek.
Van der Plas has beautifully captured a summer day on the terrace on panel.
Painting on panel in absolute top condition 30 x 24 cm with a beautiful frame, the edges of the frame have some damage but not noticeable.
Niek van der Plas (1954) grew up in Katwijk aan Zee, as the oldest son in a family of four children. The fishing village where the old, white Church, the sea and the dunes take a prominent place, can be found in many of his paintings. Niek began drawing at a young age, stimulated by his father. In 1966 he was nominated as a student at the Famous Artist School in the United States.
Van der Plas is a colourist. He prefers to work with warm colours. His work thus gets a French atmosphere. The paintings are appreciated by a wide audience both nationally as well as internationally. During the premier of the theatre production "Aspects of Love" of Joop van den Ende, the painting Canal Grande Venetië by Niek van der Plas was chosen for the decor, next to paintings by Vincent van Gogh and Maximilien Luce among others.
