Beautiful porcelain “lady with violin and partner with flute”, made in Capodimonte - Naples, signed “M” Mollica, made between 1920-1930.
Made with a technique called “a fettuccia” with small polychrome decorations of flowers.
The old Campania manufactory “Mollica” was founded in 1800 by Giovanni Mollica and then continued by his children. It was the most famous in southern Italy for the production of terracottas and full-relief modelled characters.
Between 1900-1930 they produced porcelain items in Capodimonte style, using the so-called “fettuccia” technique for the first time and Baroque-style full-relief polychrome decorations of flowers.
The statue has 2 small breaks, that can be easily restored; the end part of the lady’s violin and the end part of the flute hidden by her partner’s hand (see detailed photos).
