Spray paint, acrylic.
Original artwork, certificate of authenticity included.
Artist Mr.Oreke artist discovered pictorial arts through the practice of graffiti, in the early 2000s. Using his spray cans, he first adorned walls with his colourful drawings before making them on canvas. First close to abstraction, the painter started to add male and female portraits to his artworks a few years later.
Mr.Oreke’s touch lies in its backgrounds, he essentially works with spray paint as in graffiti art. Once the canvas is filled with the paint sprayed, the artist additionally mixes ink and acrylic.
His characters then come to complete the whole and thus to improve the often humorous story which the painter wanted to tell.
His style is resolutely contemporary, full of energy and fantasy. Always powerfully colourful, the graphic compositions created by Mr.Oreke are both inspired by the artistic style developed by the Pop Art movement precursors and by the aesthetics of American comics from the 1950s and 1960s. The frequent use of drips, the large proportion given to typographical characters and the occasional insertion of collages amplify the dynamism of his works and enhance the ‘comic book’ look of his stagings.
